This handsome guy is Yankee, one of the ten “Freedom Pups” that our rescuer found abandoned in a dumpster when they were only a few days old. Yankee has a sibling, Birdie, that is also available for adoption! His other siblings have already found their forever homes in Baltimore.
Yankee is extremely endearing and has such a strong desire to be loved! In fact, his go to position when being scratched is to lay down on his back for some belly rubs. Yankee is a medium-energy playful pup. He loves going on walks, running, playing with chew toys, and playing tug-of-war. When it’s play time, get out of the way! This little guy flies around and loves to be chased. His favorite place to be is outside! He’s also great when interacting and playing with neighborhood cats and dogs.
Yankee is very sweet and loving with his owner, but sometimes gets anxious when new people come into his home. Yankee has had some training, but he was undersocialized as a puppy, and he lacks confidence. He often looks to his human companion for direction when in uncomfortable situations. He will likely do best with a strong leader who has the time to spend with him and further train him to build up his confidence. Yankee is housebroken, knows his basic commands, walks well on a leash, and is crate trained, although he sleeps without a crate through the entire night. Yankee has also shown that he’s capable of responding to basic commands while being walked off the leash.
We would like to have Yankee adopted around the Baltimore area. He will come up to date on his shots, microchipped, and neutered. If you are interested in adopting Yankee, please fill out an online application form.
